Today’s Artist Spotlight: Pax et Romana! My name is Patrick Halm, and I work under the pen name Pax et Romana.I started making images copying Peanuts comic strips, but I picked up art as a discipline when my aunt sent me a life drawing book when I was around 10.My biggest inspirations are other artists in my local and online communities; I love the kind of social collaboration that builds up around these people and the way they inspire and instruct others.I’m never able to predict which pieces will be most popular. I think it’s a mistake to assume that fan art of popular shows is the only thing that’s viable, though, as there’s always people who just appreciate creative drawing. I like to play with franchises and concepts that are under-represented. That way when it does connect with somebody, you get to share this “I never thought I’d see that” moment which is super fun.Find more of Patrick’s work here:Pax et Romana: http://paxetromana.tumblr.com/tagged/art adventure time princess bubblegum otakon vegas ov2016 artist alley

What got you started making art?I’m not sure what started it all. I’ve always enjoyed drawing and making art, but for whatever reason it wasn’t until recently that I realized I could sell and share my art with others. What is your biggest inspiration?Darling Army is my biggest inspiration. The clothing she makes is incredibly adorable. The thing I find most inspiring is that she has made doing that her full time job. Making art for a living is something that is often discouraged because it doesn’t pay well, but the fact that she has made it her full time job is uplifting and it motivates me.What do you find to be the most popular pieces?Well, I’m still pretty new to selling my art but right now it’s definitely my buttons. They are like potato chips, you just can’t have only one!Find more of Lilly’s Pad Art here!https://www.facebook.com/lillyspadart/http://lillys-pad.deviantart.com/ lillyspadart lilly's pad otakon vegas ov2016 artist alley
What got you started making art?I’ve been drawing all my life, but it’s not until recently that I started taking it seriously. I originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but I was always encouraged by my dad/mom and friends to pursue art growing up. It wasn’t till I got my hands on a digital drawing tablet that my love for creating art really became rooted in my dreams. What is your biggest inspiration? My biggest inspiration, and honestly the only reason I’ve gotten this far, would be thanks to my closest friends and family that believed in my ability when I didn’t believe in myself. I would have given up ages ago of not for them. and always, to the fans that buy my pieces at conventions, or commission me, they also play a big part in keeping my spirits up, so thank you everyone! My artist inspirations include many artists, mainly Sakimi-Chan, UwiGoncho, Jon Lock, and CLAMP.What do you find to be the most popular pieces? Not sure if this question means popular in general, or which pieces of my art is popular, so I’ll answer to both haha. In general, fantasy or sci-fi pieces seem to stand out the most to me. Things like demons, angels, and dragons are my personal fave. As for what sells the most of my own pieces, that would have to be my Okami fanart, Spirited Away fanart, and my Yuno Gasai painting, I almost always sell out at shows.Find more of kiitsunebii’s work here!http://facebook.com/kiitsunebiihttps://twitter.com/kiitsunebiihttp://kiitsunebii.deviantart.com/ kiitsunebii otakon vegas artist alley bee and puppycat okami spirited away
